It has been way too long since I last posted, so I thought I'd update you on the goings-on with Karsynn.

1. Karsynn is in her last year of preschool. My baby girl will be in Kindergarten next school year.
2. Karsynn is very active in lots of activities. Currently she plays basketball, soccer, does dance, and is beginning gymnastics in Jan.
3. Karsynn continues to be an animal lover. Her favorite toys to play with are stuffed animals.
4. Karsynn is starting to learn to read and do math. She is reading basic sight words and is able to do simple addition and subtraction in her head.

We are very blessed to have such an intelligent, loving, kind-hearted child. She amazes me everyday and her smile reminds me daily how good our God truly is.

Wow, has it really been since January that I last posted? I'm not sure where time goes nowadays! I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on Troy's health. He completed his last round of chemotherapy and had a follow-up CT Scan. Praise God for his many blessings...a clean bill of health! They saw no signs of cancer anywhere. So, he is taking an oral chemo as an "insurance policy" as his oncologist calls it. Then he will be able to have his final surgery to reverse the ostomy. After that...who knows. The possibilities are endless! As for Karsynn, she is now 4 going on 14. She is becoming such an independent little stinker! That really breaks Mommy's heart sometimes. She is continuing to love her dance class and is learning ballet and tap. She is also taking gymnastics and is really doing well with that, too. She is so flexible and fears NOTHING, which scares me to death. We recently signed her up for a six week long drama/acting class at the Lexington Children's Theater. She is absolutely LOVING that. I've noticed so much more creativity from her since starting the class, as if she really needed anymore...LOL. We are truly just trying to treasure and enjoy the time we have with her before she begins school in another year. Speaking of school, she is still attending preschool, and I am so impressed with everything she has learned. We are so blessed to have found such a wonderful place to send her. So that's it in a nutshell! Planning our summer vacation to Orlando and Daytona Beach. Karsynn wants to spend two days at Magic Kingdom and one day at Animal Kingdom, and then we'll hit the beach.

Many of you have inquired about Troy's health and have offered your thoughts and prayers. Currently, he is receiving chemotherapy. He is on treatment #5 of 12, and is tolerating them pretty well. After treatment #8, he will have another CT Scan to check progress. If things appear to be ok, then he may stop after #8. If his oncologist is still concerned, then he many continue with 12 treatments. After that, he will have surgery to reverse his ostomy, which he will be so thankful for! Once all of that is complete, his oncologist would like for us to travel to Bethesda, Maryland to participate in a vaccine program that the National Health Institute is doing and is seeing great success with. Not sure, yet, what all of that will include, but we are hopeful for a complete cure. Cancer is a terrible disease, but we are so thankful for early detection and that God has provided us with such amazing surgeons and oncologists! We are truly blessed people! Again, thank you for your thoughts and concerns. Keep praying! God is doing amazing things in our lives!!!

Well, 2010 will go down in the books as one of the most EXCITING times at our house, at least according to one four year old little girl! Karsynn absolutely loved everything about Christmas this year. She was so excited by every single part, and it was so cute! First, Buddy Elf began visiting our house the day after Thanksgiving. This is year two for Buddy Elf, and he was still a HUGE hit and a great behavior modifier. Karsynn would jump out of bed each morning, race into the living room and immediately began searching for Buddy's newest location. Mommy also started a new Buddy Elf tradition this year that was a real crowd-pleaser. Buddy began leaving simply $1 or less treats in Kasrynn's stocking this year, so she was just as excited to check each stocking to see what he had left for her. I absolutely love Elf on the Shelf and HIGHLY recommend it!!! Once again, Karsynn was spoiled with 3 Christmas events, Grandma and G-pa's, our house, and Mamaw and Papaw's. She got so much stuff that she truly was overwhelmed. Let's see if I can list a few of her favorite things: Barbie's Vet Pet Shop, Leapter2 w/games, tons of Furreal Animals, artificial food for her kitchen, Dinosaur Train game, Bongo Drums, a fiddle, a Crayon Maker, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, a new bike, Olivia 2 in 1 house/pirate ship, and tons more! Yep, she's spoiled! In addition to all the great toys she got, we also made our first ever Gingerbread House with cousins Whitney and Dyland, and she really enjoyed that a lot, too. Karsynn performed in her first Christmas Dance Recital. Her group danced a tap to Jolly Old St. Nicholas. So sweet and she did such a great job! I was actually impressed with her ability to remember all the steps and motions! She also played a Shepherd in her preschool Christmas play this year, and even had a speaking part into the microphone. She's such a little ham! Overall, I'd say it was a great Christmas at the Hatfield house. We are so blessed to have Karsynn in our lives. She has brought us more joy than ever imagined and fills our hearts with love! The love I have for my daughter is indescriable! It's unlike anything I've ever experienced! Happy New Year from us to you! We hope and pray that 2011 is a blessed year for you and your's.

On Friday, November 12th, our baby girl turned 4. I simply cannot believe it! I'm not sure where the time has gone, but I do know that we have been completely blessed to have this child in our lives. To celebrate at preschool, Karsynn and I made homemade cupcakes in ice cream cones. Wow, they turned out so cute and were actually pretty tasty. On Friday, Troy and I took her to Chuck E Cheese for just the three of us to celebrate, and of course, she had a BLAST! Finally, her birthday party was at Monkey Joe's in Lexington on Sunday. She had 14 friends come to celebrate with her, including CJ Bei, which was a huge surprise to us all! What a blessing Karsynn is! I am eternally thankful to God for giving us such a precious gift!

Sometimes Lifes Throws You a Curveball...

Since my last post, life certainly has gotten difficult for all of us. In May, Troy was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer. He completed five weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, and on Sept. 9th they did surgery to remove the tumor. We spent six long days in the hospital in Louisville, and were discharged to come home. We spent a little more than a week at home, when Troy's pain became so bad that he had to be re-admitted to the hospital for another four days. Since his release, he seems to be on the mend, although the process is very slow. Once he recovers from the surgery, he will complete 8-12 more chemotherapy sessions to be certain the cancer is gone. Please pray for continued healing for Troy!

As for Karsynn, she has adapted quite well to the many changes going on around her. She has started her first official year of preschool. Her teacher brags daily about how very smart she is, as she seems to catch on so quickly. She knows most of her letters, numbers, can count by tens, knows her colors and shapes, and her most recent accomplishment is learning to print her name.

It's so hard to believe that she will turn 4 in a little more than a month. I'm not certain where the time goes. It seems like just yesterday we were flying to China to meet our precious gift for the very first time, and here she is turning 4. She is the greatest gift to our lives. She blesses us with her quick wit and quirky little attitude daily, and we couldn't have asked for more.

It has been a long time since I posted any updates on our precious blessing. So here goes. We are currently enjoying a relaxing vacation in Myrtle Beach. Karsynn loves the ocean. In fact, Karsynn loves everything about the water. She is now 3 1/2 years old. She is swimming like a little fish, she is extremely inquisitive, very intelligent, has a great imagination, and is simply a joy to our family. I will post pics from our vacation soon.

Well, we registered Karsynn to play her first official organized sport...soccer, and let's just say she's, "NOT INTERESTED!!" We've had two practices, one of which it was so cold mommy's feet about froze off. All the other kids are listening to the coach, running after the ball, and having a blast, and my dear sweet little Karsynn is playing in the gravel and standing in the middle of the field staring at the ground. Lord help us! After practice #2, I actually had two mothers, in a very friendly voice, say, "Well, maybe she'll be a cheerleader?" That's how bad it is people. I'm not going to panic just yet, as she is only 3. However, I hope we are able to convince her that she needs to stay on field during an actual game and that we can complete the season. She does look awfully cute in her little soccer uniform, though. She really likes the shin guards and cleats!

On a more positive note, Troy and I are really looking into another adoption from China. We are considering doing a Special Needs adoption, so please pray that God will lead us in the right direction. I'll try to post pics later. I have a lot of catching up to do on my blog! Sorry!!!!

Karsynn Update...3 years old body...12 year old ATTITUDE!

It has been awhile since I've had time to post, so I thought I'd update all my followers:

1. We officially have a 3 year old with an ATTITUDE. She is the most sassy little thing lately, and he daddy blames it all on me. He says she acts just like her Mama...WHATEVER!
2. Karsynn is loving going to preschool. She loves her teacher Miss Sandy, that is, until she tries to make her mind. Then she gives her that "I'm not listening to you!" attitude that she has learned from me. (I'm so embarrassed!)
3. We have quite the little artist on our hands. She's only 3 and is already drawing people and including all the important body parts, including arms and feet. Yesterday she came home with a face drawn with one eye open and one eye shut. Miss Sandy always asks them what they've drawn and writes a note out beside the picture. Karsynn told her that it was, "Karsynn winking at you!" What a HOOT!
4. We've started trying to talk to Karsynn about the possibility of adopting a brother or sister for her. She's not having it! She gets very upset and says, "I just want an airplane...a blue one...and that's all." My child thinks all babies come by airplane. She's not interested in the baby, just he airplane.
5. I've started working with Karsynn on reading some basic Sight Words. She can already recognize cat, dog, Karsynn, Sammi, Troy and G-pa. Not too bad! I just wish I had (or could make) more time to work with her. She could be reading in no time, I'm sure. She's just so naturally intelligent. I wish I could take credit for that one, but I'm sure it's genetic.
6. Finally, I think we have a future American Idol star on our hands. Her latest favorite song is, "If you like it then you should have put a ring on it." She cracks me up!

Wow, I sure hope December is better than November, at least for my family. I apologize that I have not updated the blog with pictures from Karsynn's birthday party, but I've been a bit "under the weather." I was in the ER twice during Thanksgiving Break, and they still aren't sure what is/was wrong. They are suspecting gall bladder, but who knows? Nonetheless, I'm on the mend, so I'll try to post pictures soon.

Today, my baby girl turned 3 years old. Don't ask me where the time goes, because I don't know. One moment, we were waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting to fly to China to bring her home, and the next minute she's turning 3. Wow! Simply amazing! She has been the best gift anyone could ever receive. I don't know what we did to ever deserve her, but I'm so thankful that God saw fit to give her to us. She has changed our lives in ways that know one could ever imagine. To long for a child and begin to fear that it just simply wasn't "in the cards" for your life is devastating. So, for us, Karsynn is our miracle child. She has changed so much in just a year. She is such a "big girl" now. Miss Independent, if you will. She can do it all herself, or so she thinks. Her latest fascinations include dinosaurs, any type of animals, and she continues to love Tinkerbell, which is the theme for her birthday party Saturday. She loves her "soft animals", as she so sweetly refers to her stuffed animals. I truly believe the child is destined to have a job working with animals in the future. I'm so glad she is an animal lover like her mommy. Daddy, not so much! I will try to post some recent pictures later! Thanks for continuing to follow our blog, eventhough mommy has a difficult time finding time to keep it updated.

It is hard to believe that our vacation will soon be coming to an end. You work so hard all year long and look so forward to a much needed vacation, and it just seems to FLY by. Everyone should have to take a mandatory 2 week minimum vacation per year, but that's just my opinion. Karsynn has had a great time at the beach. She loved Orlando and all the parks, but she truly is a beach bum. She loves the water! She is as brown as a little bean. Tonight we had dinner at Charley Horse and ate All U Can Eat Crab Legs...YUMMY!!! Karsynn even tried them and actually liked them. Troy and I were stuffed like two turkeys when we left. Tomorrow is our last night in Daytona, and we plan to take in a race at Daytona 500. I think it's the Subway 250 or something like that. I'm not a race fan, but it should be pretty exciting and NOISY. Karsynn and I are only going because it's something Daddy wants to do. It's a night race, so at least it won't be so hot. Anyways, we'll fly home on Saturday morning early. Just a quick 1 hr. and 26 min. flight and we're home. I love it! We've had a great time, but we (Karsynn and I) miss Bentley and the rest of our family. We're considering a nice winter vacation at the beach in Dec., so we'll see.

Vacationing in Florida

We are in Florida, and it has been a busy, busy trip! We spent 3 days in Orlando visiting Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Sea World and Sea World's waterpark, Aquatica. Karsynn had a BLAST! We are currently in Daytona Beach at our resort enjoying the beach and swimming. We fly home on Saturday. Karsynn loved her flight down to Florida. She kept waving out the window to Grandma, G-Pa, Papaw and Mamaw. It was so cute!

1st Camping Trip in our New Camper and Upcoming Vacation...

We just got home from a three day camping trip at Fort Boonesborough. It was our first trip in our new pop up tent camper. We had such a good time. The first two days were quiet and peaceful, but yesterday all the weekend campers came. We took Karsynn swimming one day, the other two days were spent just chilling out around camp. I actually got to read 24 chapters in a book I started a year ago. My, my, how motherhood changes your life!! For the good, of course. Just no time for myself anymore, but that's ok. I wouldn't change a thing!!! We leave Friday for our big trip to Orlando and Daytona Beach. We are flying, so this will be the first flight that Karsynn will actually remember taking. We are spending 3 days in Orlando visiting Disney World, Sea World, and Aquatica, which is a new water park. Then, we're off to spend the remainder of our time in Daytona just relaxing on the beach or at the pool. I can't wait to see Karsynn experience so many new, fun things. I'll try to post pictures from our camping trip later this week.

Thank you all for your continued prayers for Troy's dad. He is doing GREAT!!! God is soooo good!!!

Prayer...

There is much to pray about in our household...

1. Troy's dad has lung cancer surgery Friday, so please remember him in your prayers. Troy's mom, Teresa, is having a very difficult time with this, and other things that are going on in her life. She needs your prayers, too.

2. Troy needs to pass a very important test to complete his Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling this summer. Please pray that God will grant him the knowledge necessary to do so. He also needs your prayers, as he is very worried about his dad, too.

3. We are still in the discussion stages of a 2nd adoption. We both feel that God has another child planned for us, but we're just not sure what His exact plan is yet. Please pray that God will show us what to do and that we will have listening ears. Patience is a virtue, and right now, I have NONE. Pray for me, too.

I realize this is a long list, but as the old saying goes, "When it rains it pours!" This too shall pass. I know that God will see us through all of these trials and tribulations.

The latest on Karsynn...
1. We are in the beginning stages of potty training. Wow, what a job!
2. She continues to grow taller and taller, but she's not gaining much weight. I guess she'll be a tall and skinny Chongqing girl!
3. She absolutely loves the pool. We are working on learning to swim! She's miss independent and wants very little help from us and depends on her arm floaties.
4. Her vocabulary continues to impress even her mommy! She is such a bright, clever, expressive, and dramatic little girl. (Drama Queen...look it up in the dictionary and you'll find her picture.)
5. She looked at me the other day and said..."No more daycare!" So cute! Summer Break!
6. We finally purchased a new tent camper, so we hope to be able to do some serious camping this summer and fall.
7. Our vacation plans include a trip to Florida to visit Disney World, Sea World, and of course THE BEACH!!! Karsynn absolutely cannot wait!
8. My big girl is 2 years and 7 months old...oh my! I can't believe how time flies!

Difficult Times...

I apologize to all of you who pop in to view updates about our Chinese princess, Miss Karsynn. Mommy has been a bit too busy to post lately, but I intend to do better this summer. A lot has been going on in our lives lately, some of which we wish wasn't. Troy's dad was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. While no one ever wants to hear "the Big C" word thrown at them, he is a very, very lucky man. The cancer is contained in the lung and after a PET scan, was found NO WHERE else in his body...Praise God. His doctor believes he can remove the mass, along with 3 small spots, via surgery. We are not certain whether or not he will require Chemotherapy or Radiation, so please pray. He health is otherwise pretty good, so we are hoping that with such early detection, the outcome will be good. Karsynn really loves her G-Pa, so send up some special prayers on his behalf. Other than that horrific news, life in our house is busy busy. Troy and I are both trying to wrap up another school year. After that, we hope to take a brief vacation to Florida then Troy starts graduate classes again in July. It looks as if Karsynn and I will spending a lot of time at home alone enjoying the pool while Daddy studies.

We would also ask that you say a prayer for us, as Troy and I both feel the tug at our hearts to adopt another child. The adoption process in China is now at a 3 year wait. As we are NOT getting any younger, we need to know soon if this is what God has planned for us. Is there another little Chinese prince or princess out there waiting for his or her forever family and are we it??? To be continued...

Prayers Needed!!!

It's been some time since I posted last, and I apologize for this. Life has been a bit crazy in our house lately. Karsynn had her most severe allergy attack this past weekend, and she has been coughing and her nose has been running since. She is on yet another antibiotic, but we really had no choice. Also, my father-in-law is having some health complications right now, so please say a prayer that we get good news on Monday. I promise I will try to post some pics soon. Karsynn is getting so big and changes daily. We are such blessed parents!!!

What's going on in Karsynn's World?

Well, we've all been quite busy lately, so not much time to post updates. I'll try to do better for those of you who are faithful followers and get tired of checking in daily and seeing the same old thing! Sorry!

1. Karsynn now has a new swing set to play on in the yard. She loves the slide and is getting a bit to brave around it for Mommy.
2. Tonight, Daddy and Uncle Ray put her new trampoline together and she jumped until she couldn't jump anymore. Again, a little too brave for Mommy!!
3. Karsynn is such a smart little girl. I wish we could take credit for her good genes, but NOPE, she doesn't get it from us. Her vocabulary just amazes me sometimes. You tell her something one time and she remembers it forever! Amazing!
4. She's loving her new daycare room. She is now with the older two year olds and is having a great time. Today, they colored their own horses and are going to have their own version of the KY Derby. Of course she says her horse is going to win!
5. Daddy is finishing up his two masters classes this week. He had two more to take this summer and he is finished with his Guidance Counseling degree. YEAH!!!
6. We discuss another adoption at least once a week, but we haven't yet gotten the nerve up to tackle the paperwork again. We'll see???

That's about it! Busy, busy, busy! I can't wait for school to be out for summer break, so we can relax and have fun with her. We're going to tackle potty training this summer, so we'll see how that goes.

We spent three days in Tennessee with Karsynn and it was an absolute BLAST! The weather was beautiful, and the water park at our resort was super!!! We ALL enjoyed it so much...yes Troy and I both rode the slides, too. We did some shopping for mommy, visited a few amusement rides for Karsynn and went to the Ripley's Aquarium, too. It's always so neat to see Karsynn experience something new. She's so young and innocent. Oh to be young again...

Well, we did it! We introduced Karsynn to March Madness in Kentucky. She attended her very first Sweet 16 Basketball session last night at Rupp Arena. We watched two games, and she did really well until the very end. By that time, she was a bit worn out. Here is a picture of her standing beside the Sweet 16 Championship Trophy. It's bigger than her! Poor thing, she has no choice but to love sports!

Troy and I both graduated from Morehead State University with our undergraduate and graduate degrees. The MSU Eagles won the OVC Championship in basketball and have earned their place in the Final 64 NCAA Tournament. We are so proud of our little university in the mountains of Kentucky. Some say they have no chance and don't deserve to make it to the "Big Dance," but it isn't always about winning or even having a shot at winning. For some, like us, it's just about the experience. Disney on Ice

Yesterday was a busy day! We took Karsynn and her friend Isabella to Olive Garden to eat. Karsynn discovered that she really likes shredded Paremesan cheese with tomatoes. She ate like a "little pig." After that, we ventured down to Rupp Arena for Disney on Ice where she had to have Minnie Mouse ears, cotton candy and a snow cone in a Mickey Mouse cup. Not bad, that only put us back about $32...YIKES! I guess they're only little once. Karsynn seemed to enjoy the show, but she fell asleep during the Lion King part of the show. It was just too much excitement for one day. Finally, we headed back to the Fayette Mall for some ice cream at Maggie Moo's ice cream shoppe. Overall, it was a busy but very fun day. Karsynn and Isabella both fell asleep in the car coming home. So sweet! I took photos on my new Canon Rebel camera but I don't have a USB cable for it yet, so I'll try to post some pics later.

Ahhh. the taste of a cold glass of water

We live in such a privileged country, yet we take so many of our blessings for granted. During our trip to China, one of the most challenging things I faced was the inability to go to the sink and get myself a cold glass of water. The water in China is not drinkable from the tap. We were warned of this before we traveled, but I just couldn't imagine that it was true...that is until we were there. No sliding your toothbrush under the running water, no allowing the warm shower water to run down your face and a bit dripping into your mouth, and absolutely no drinking from the tap. Boy was that a challenge! Do you know why? Because we take so much for granted in the country in which we live.

Imagine if you will an orphanage full of babies waiting for their forever families. Now, imagine the nannies who care for these babies, preparing food and bottles in water that is undrinkable, yet they have no choice. Well, up until now, this has been the case of many orphanages in China, including Nanchuan City SWI, which Karsynn and her "China Sisters" were cared for in for the first 9 months of their little lives.

Now, imagine if you will, the abilitiy to make this one struggle and danger a thing of the past for so many children in China...IT CAN HAPPEN and IT IS! If this post has sparked your interest, then please visit the link below. Doesn't every child in the world have A Right to Clean Water?

I just found out that Karsynn's orphanage has been funded to have a complete water filtration system installed for FREE, fully funded by A Child's Right. In just a short time, the nannies and the babies they care for at Nanchuan City SWI will no longer have to worry about drinking contaminated, dangerous water and this makes my heart smile. I am overcome with tears of joy...

Ok, so my two year old climbs up to the computer desk, opens the laptop and looks at me and says, "I check email..." So, maybe I'm spending a little too much time on the computer or maybe she's just a really good listener and mocking bird? Hmmmm... So, I'm wondering when I should become concerned that my 2 year old isn't interested at all in potty training? The pediatrician says that she'll do it in her own time, I think this summer would be a good time to start, but I hear others saying that their child is the same age and is already potty trained. What to believe?? What to do?? I don't want to worry her with it or stress her out, so I offer but she still says no. Maybe I'll try some rewards? Here are a few more cute phrases she's using nowadays:

"I check email"
"Hey everybody! What's everybody doing?"
"Follow mommy daddy or follow daddy mommy..."
"I'm the King of the Castle! I'm the Princess!"
"I the Mommy and you're the baby..."

It's the cutest thing ever to hear her talk in such complete sentences now. Along with talking our heads off, she's singing, dancing, showing more imagination than ever, and is just as full of herself as she has ever been. I'm loving it! Finally, this is what her G-pa has taught her. One day she was scratched by a cat at a friend's house. When she walked in, she told G-pa what that "Titty Tat" did to her. G-pa said he'd punch that kitty cat in the nose and pull its tail. So, needless to say, whenever Karsynn sees a cat she says, "Punch it in the nose and pull its tail?" Not that she ever would, because she loves all animals, but it's just so cute to hear her say.

We're Back on our Feet Again...Yeah!!!

Well, after weeks of the Strep Throat, the Flu, a double ear infection and a sinus infection, we're finally a functioning family again. We've managed two days of daycare, two full days of work for mommy and daddy, and things are looking good. Keep you fingers crossed that we don't pick up any other YUCK that might be going around. Now that Karsynn is well, we're looking forward to getting Karsynn out and about again. For starters, we're going to see Disney on Ice in Lexington with Ray and his daughter, Isabella. That should be great fun. Every time the commercial comes on, Karsynn says, "I go there?" I think she'll really love seeing all the characters. After that, we're planning on some sort of adventure over Spring Break. Not sure what just yet, but we're contemplating Wilderness in the Smokies in Pigeon Forge. I think Karsynn would enjoy the water park. She loves the water, especially tubby time. She keeps looking out the back door at our pool and saying, "I swim?" I think I'll tackle teaching her to swim this summer, which should be pretty easy, I think. Here are a couple of pics to enjoy of our girl...

Illness Update Take 2:

Well, I stayed home with Karsynn on Friday. Troy and I took her back to the pediatrician in Lexington, and guess what...a double ear infection, on top of the Flu. Thankfully, she put her on another antibiotic and she's "on the mend." She's eating better, sleeping better, and is getting back to her rowdy little self. Mommy and Daddy are so glad to have our spry little girl back. She's been such a sick little thing. It's just pitiful! Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers during these crazy days of our lives. March is here and we are in need of a much better month!!! Bring it on!

Well, just when we thought things were getting better...

Troy ended up in the ER with his jaw locked. He has this problem sometimes, but he can usually manage to get it unlocked himself. Not this time. He had to be sedated in order to unlock it. UGGHHHHH!!

Karsynn went to the doctor today and she tested positive for the FLU...UGHHHHHH x 10!!!

On March 9, I will take my first epidural injection for my lower back pain. They have to put me to sleep to do it, so I hope and pray it works! I just want some relief!!

Now, let's see what the rest of the week holds for us...

Ok, I'm on a really bad roller coaster ride and can't get off. Can someone please pull the emergency break? As if my life hasn't been crazy enough lately, I ended up in the ER on Sunday night with an uncontrolable fever and a sore throat like nothing I've ever experienced. Can you guess...Strep Throat...a very bad case of Strep Throat. I missed work yesterday and managed a full day at work today, although I probably should have stayed home. Is someone pulling a cruel joke on me or what? I couldn't write a better story if I made it up myself. I'm pumping by body full of yet another foreign antibody to kill out yet another germ, which I probably picked up from one of my dear darlings at school, so let's pray this is it! I can't handle much more. Ok, enough venting. I'm trying to stay positive, but things haven't exactly been going my way. I'll try to post pictures soon. No time tonight. My little "China Monkey" is hanging from the bars of the never used treadmill and pulling her feet up to her hands on the bar. Can you say strong and flexible?? Oh to be that young again. I do well to get up and walk around anymore. Blessings...

Sorry I haven't posted in some time. You know the old saying, "When it rains it pours," well it's still pouring at our house. Troy's dad finally got out of the hospital Friday. He's feeling much better now and is on the mend. I, however, am feeling like an old horse that needs "put down." I have back problems, and this bout of pain is just about to kill me. I can't seem to get over it this time. I see a specialist on Feb. 24 to begin Epidural Injections in my back. I'm really nervous about this, so please say a prayer for me. I don't know what else to do at this point. I have to try anything. I can't give Karsynn a bath without help. I can't pack her around like she wants me to. I'm just plain miserable! I'll upload some photos later.

Life has been like a never ending roller coaster ride for us lately, so I apologize for my lack of posts, especially to those faithful followers who check in daily. So, what's been going on?

1. We traveled to Lima, OH to take Troy's parents to visit with his aunt who is very ill. It was a great trip. She was in good spirits and has made peace with God, so she's ready to go when He calls, which could be very soon.
2. We've missed 7 days of school in the last two weeks due to ice and snow and I just want it to GO AWAY! Teachers live for snow days, but enough is enough! We'll be going to school til the end of June at this rate.
3. Because of bad weather, Troy is still trying to finish up his basketball season, which I don't see happening anytime soon.
4. Troy is enrolled in 2 graduate classes at MSU right now, one which meets in Morehead on Thursday and the other which meets in Ashland (1 1/2 hour drive East of here) on Tuesday nights. So, needless to say, Karsynn and I only get to see him 3 nights a week until May. Mama is TIRED!
5. Troy's dad is very sick right now and we're not sure what's going on. He was in the ER Super Bowl Sunday in OH and is on his way back to the ER here in town tonight. I feel so sorry for his mom, because she's dealing with a dying sister and a sick husband. She's exhausted!
6. To top things off, Troy wrecked my KIA Sorento today on his way home from his parent's house. He's fine, but it did $3500 worth of damage to the right side of my vehicle, so that now has to be repaired.

When it rains, it pours!!!! Please say a prayer that it all ends soon, because Mama is about to lose her mind.

It took us 30 minutes to get dressed, we played for 30 minutes, and then it took us 15 minutes to take all those clothes off again, but it was worth it. Our little Kentucky hillybilly + Chongqing Spicy Girl, loved the snow. She wanted to make a snowman, but the snow wouldn't ball up for her, so she just threw snow at Mommy instead. She loved playing in the back of Daddy's old truck, too. She really didn't want to come inside, but Mommy was FREEZING!!!! Now, when she looks out at all the snow on the ground, she says, "I build snowman?"

"Could I get a little help here, please? This is my first time, you know?"

Mother Nature's Wrath on Kentucky

Mother Nature has not been very kind to Kentucky over the last few days. We have more ice than snow in Mt. Sterling, but the snow is falling now. It's lovely. I've had a few extra days off with Karsynn. However, I'm tired of being cooped up in this house!

Today was a busy, funfilled day for Karsynn. We started the day by attending a birthday party for Karsynn's friend, Sydney. It was at Gymboree in Lexington, and was SO MUCH FUN! A really neat place for a birthday party! After that, we headed over to Chuck E Cheese for some more fun with CJ and Kailee, Karsynn's "China Sisters." It was so good to have the girls together again. It's been awhile...too long. As you can see in the last photo, Karsynn was ZONKED after so much fun.

I'm a little late, but here you go...some recent pics of the girl. We took her to a MCHS high school ballgame last night, and she loved it. The only thing is she thinks she's bigger than she really is and she wants to run all over the gym by herself...NOT happening. The game was between Clark Co. and Montgomery Co. The thing is, Mommy works in Montgomery and Daddy works in Clark, so Karsynn is a bit confused as to who to cheer for. I've taught her the tomahawk chop and to say "Go Indians!" Daddy wants her to say, "Go Cards!" so I've taught her to say, "Dirty Birds!" It's really cute.

Ok, so I always post silly pictures of Karsynn on the blog, but this time I'm going to post a few of my own. I had the opportunity to make contact with an old friend that my sister and I went to elementary school (grade school as we called it) with. We all attended a small school within walking distance of my house called Chattaroy Grade School. Everybody knew everyone and that's just how it was, and it's was simple, yet great. I wouldn't change a thing. So, my friend recently emailed me some pictures of the "good old days." Can you spot me? And yes, I was a cheerleader. That was a lot of years and a lot of pounds ago. Oh, to be young again.

UPDATE: 24 hr. stomach bug. We're feeling better!!!

When I picked Karsynn up at daycare yesterday, she was so excited! When we got in the car, she kept saying, "I sick." She's a drama queen, that's how she plays. So, typical mommy response, "You're not sick!" Well 5 vomits later (sorry to be so graphic) at 12:20 AM, Mommy finally believes her. She's sick. Not sure if it's something she ate or if she has a stomach bug, but her tummy's feeling yucky. As a mommy, you learn to tolerate a lot of things, but people, I'm telling you, I don't know that I'll ever learn to handle the vomit. OMG!!!! Ok, enough about that. Karsynn is changing so much every day. Santa brought her some really cook Brain Quest cards for 2-4 year olds. Everyday, she gets those card decks and says, "I read." Her vocabulary has increased so much thanks to those cards. She's learning to identify more and more things everyday. It's great! I highly recommend them to all parents of toddlers.

To say 2009 almost seems unreal, doesn't it. I can remember being small and thinking that 1991 (my high school graduation year) would never come. Now look, it's come and gone and it's 2009. Where does time go? As the new year approaches, I have many hopes and wishes for my sweet girl. First, I hope her health continues to improve. Her allergies are getting so much better and her ears are doing great. In fact, one tube is out now and the other should come out soon. Dr. MkD. says all is well. I hope for a smooth transition back into daycare, as she has been off for two weeks now. She really loves playing with her little friends, so I think she'll be fine. I hope her sleep habits continue to improve. She has made great progress since giving up the bottle, so we'll see. I hope that she continues to get to spend time with her cousin, Shelby. They've seen each other a lot lately and love playing together. My final hope is that as she continues to grow and mature that she will learn patience. Two year old have NONE!! She really has NONE...but you have to love her!

Our 2nd Christmas together as a family and it was GREAT! Karsynn is getting so big, and she really enjoyed opening her presents this year. She got tons of toys and clothes from Santa, like she needed more! Our Christmas was spent with family and friends, which is the best Christmas present ever.

On Christmas Eve, our school family suffered a terrible tragedy. Four young kids were killed in a house fire in our neighborhood. Three brothers and their 17 year old cousin lost their lives. One of the boys was in the 2nd grade at our school. The 17 year old was a past student of mine, which makes the loss even harder. Please remember these families in your prayers!

Christmas Break...YEAH!!!!!

Well, it's official, school is out until Jan. 5th...Yeah!!!!!!!! The only thing is, Karsynn is sick :( It started with a fever blister and a mild cough, and now it's a full blown viral infection. She's so pitiful. We visited Dr. Taylor's office yesterday, so she's on the mend now. She woke up this morning with her normal smiling face and as rowdy as ever...thank you God! I'm glad we caught it in time, so she won't be sick over Christmas. So, here's the scoop on where Karsynn is and what she's doing, as we ready to end 2008:

1. She wants NOTHING to do with Ho Ho...nothing! When he's on tv, she says, "turn it off!" I guess that's pretty normal for a two year old?
2. She loves the Christmas lights, the tree and Christmas music, especially the song with her name in it that cousin Whitney bought her last year. That's all we listen to in the car.
3. She is bottle free and is sleeping so much better at night.
4. She's loving daycare and is learning so much. She has a new creation for us almost everyday when we pick her up. So cute, and of course Mommy hangs them all over the pantry door in the kitchen. It's our Wall of Fame for Karsynn.
5. Karsynn is talking so much. I used to get so excited to hear her say new things, but now I can't keep up with it all. She says something new everyday. She loves to count, is learning her ABC's and colors, and can identify basic shapes like circle, triangle and heart.
6. Her favorite sayings as of lately: "I the boss!" "Are you ok, feel better?" and "If Mommy says know, ask Daddy!" (UT OHHHH, we're in trouble! Daddy taught her that one!)

As the holidays approach, I realize how blessed we truly are. Life with Karsynn is good, and who knows, maybe we'll begin the work to add another one to the bunch sometime soon??? Stay tuned...

Snow Day!!!

We awoke this morning to about 2 inches of snow and a layer of ice under that. You know what that spells in Kentucky...SNOW DAY! I know we have to make a certain number of these days up in the end, but boy do I ever love getting to stay home with Karsynn. She woke us up this morning at 8:00, but that's the sweetest face to wake up to. We've been lazy all day long, and that's ok. They took school pictures at her daycare, and we got them yesterday. They turned out really cute! I'll try to scan and post those later today. For now, I think it's the perfect time for a cup of hot chocolate with my girl!!!

I've received a ton of messages asking, "Where are the posts?" Well, this Mommy has been "down for the count" since Friday. It started with me getting strep throat...UGHHH! It ended with my back going out yet again on Saturday night, which in turn ended me up at the ER at Central Baptist in Lexington. It's nothing major, just a case of an aggravated sciatic nerve. I'm on the mend now and am feeling some better. Here are a few pics for you to enjoy! We had Karsynn and CJ's 2 year old picture made together and they turned out quite cute, even if we couldn't get them both to smile. The others are a True Blue fan in the making...Go CATS!

We Did It!!!

It's official, Karsynn is a "bottle free" big girl now! We began the process of taking her night bottle away on Wednesday of Thanksgiving Break, and by Thursday night, it was over. She still periodically says, "Baba," especially at night, but when I tell her she's a big girl now, she immediately asks for her "cuppy." The funny thing is, I think taking the bottle was harder on Mommy than it was on Karsynn. As I dried each bottle and placed it into the storage bag and threw away all her bottle nipples, I actually teared up. I did the same thing when I gave her the last jar of baby food. It's sad. I think I just wanted a baby for so long, that it's just so hard to let her grow into a big girl. I know, I know, get over Mommy. Today was her first day back at daycare in 5 days, so I think I'll call to check on her. I'm sure she's fine, but I bet it was a shock to her waking up around all those people after being home for so many days. Anyways...

Well, we made it safely through the busiest shopping day of the year...BLACK FRIDAY! Troy was the brave one this year, as he ventured out this morning before 5:00 AM to pick up a few presents for Karsynn. He originally went out after the Barbie Car at WalMart that was on sale for $88. However, when the paper came off the stack, there were only four in the store and he was about the 8th person in line. Shucks! He was able to pick up the $140 trampoline for Karsynn, complete with the safety net. YEAH!! She will love that next summer. He also managed to pick up a few important things that Mommy requested, like SD cards for the camera (you know I am a picture taking crazy woman) and 4 pajama sets for Karsynn. He's such a good man...all this while Karsynn and I lay sleeping. Thanks Daddy! Around 10:00, the three of us ran to Lexington to see if there were any last minute deals left and we found a few. Then Daddy had basketball practice, so Karsynn and I ran around Winchester while he practiced his boys. All in all, it was a great day. I thank God for being able to go out and make a few simple purchases today, as there are many who aren't as fortunate. I'll post some pictures from this Thanksgiving, but here are a few from last year. Look how little she was!!! OMG!!!

Thanksgiving Break...what to do?

I vote absolutely nothing...Mommy needs a rest. I doubt that this will happen, as there is no time for rest with a wild two year old running around. We plan to share Thanksgiving dinner with Troy's parents and mine at his mom's house. After stuffing ourselves like a turkey, we plan to do a bit of Black Friday shopping. We also plan to tackle the old Christmas tree this week. Karsynn is so excited by all the neighborhood lights, so this Christmas should be extra fun. Beyond that, I see a restful weekend for Mommy, just spending time at the house and enjoying Karsynn. Not sure if it will happen this weekend or not, but we do plan to venture to the KY Horse Park to enjoy the Southern Lights display. It's supposed to be amazing! They have over 100 light displays, as well as a petting zoo for kids. I think Karsynn will really enjoy that, so we'll see if we can fit it into our busy schedule. Before Karsynn's birthday party at BounceU, Nila and I had Karsynn and CJ's pictures made together at Walmart. We pick them up the 28th, so be sure to check back for picture updates. They turned out really cute, birthday balloons and a big 2! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!!!

Lots to be Thankful For...

As Thanksgiving Day quickly approaches, we have much to be thankful for. First, and foremost, we are thankful for our wonderful daughter that God so richly blessed us with. She's amazing! She's growing up so quickly, but each day brings an even more amazing milestone to her. She's talking (sometimes too much), running around like a crazy child, and although she's still experiencing sleep problems, our nights are getting gradually better. She is a daredevil! She has no fear and will attempt anything at least once. Her favorite thing to do now is to grab the railing when coming downstairs, pull her feet up off the stairs and swing like a little monkey. She just giggles like its the best thing ever. Her newest saying is, "Happy Hooray!" She says this whenever anything good happens. Secondly, we are thankful for the good health that God has blessed us with. Karsynn's allergy problem is now under control, with the help of medications, and she is going longer amounts of time without needing antibiotics. Bonus: we've kept Bentley (AKA Gigi Dog) and she seems to be doing fine around him. We are also thankful for our many good friends and family that surround us on a daily basis. We have such good people in our circle, people we can truly depend on, in good times and in bad, and that is rare in the world we live in today. Troy and I are both blessed with wonderful, stable jobs. For this, I give God thanks. There are so many people who have lost their jobs or are in fear of losing their job, and that's a scary thing. I can't imagine how uncertain things must feel for them right now. I pray that our economy will stablilize and the rebuilding process will begin. I am thankful for new leadership in our country. Times are hard and CHANGE is needed. President Elect Barack Obama has his hands full come January 28th. I pray that God will give him the knowledge and skill needed to lead our country out of the trouble that we are in. It won't happen overnight, and I know that, but I pray for change to happen as quickly as it can possibly happen, so that we can take back our country. Finally, I am thankful for the many people who visit this blog daily, weekly, or monthly. For those of you who wait, I know how you are feeling. Days and nights are long and hard, but your time is coming. Be patient and know that, "All in God's timing!" He has the perfect child picked out for you and your family. This was written even before you were born. So, with that said, be patient, enjoy life everyday, and keep checking in on Karsynn! Our only hope is to bring a smile to your heart and some peace to your mind with our story. Fairytales Do Come True...believe me!!!

I finally found time to post some pictures of Karsynn's party at BounceU in Lexington. A fun time was had by all, and it was worth every penny we spent to feel relaxed, play with Karsynn and enjoy our friends. We will definitely visit BounceU again. It has been a very busy weekend for our family.

1. On Friday, Troy and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary. He took me out to eat in Lexington and surprised me with lower arena UK basketball tickets. We had a great time!!
2. Karsynn had a birthday party to go to at TK's Gymnastics for Bryson and Braylon. I think I have a little gymnast on my hands. She loved all of it! I guess we'll be checking into gymnastic classes soon!!!
3. Today, we will celebrate Karsynn's 2nd birthday with friends and family at BounceU in Lexington. We are very excited because Karsynn will be reunited with three of her "China Sisters" from our travel group: Macy, Abby and CJ are all coming! We can't wait to see them all. Our only wish is that everyone in our travel group lived close enough for them all to be together. To all of you who live so far away, we miss you and think of you often!!!!!

Today was a GREAT day spent with Karsynn. Daddy and I took Karsynn to Lexington today. We went shopping for her Christmas dress, which you see in the picture below. Then we had her 2 year old pictures, as well as Christmas pictures, made. They turned out so cute! After a few hours of picture taking, we ventured over to Chucky Cheese for pizza and play time. We simply spent the day as a family, which was perfect. The big birthday bash happens this weekend, and Karsynn cannot wait to see all of her friends. They're going to have a great time playing together. I simply cannot believe my baby is 2...

It is absolutely unbelieveable to me that my baby could be getting ready to turn TWO! Where in the world does time go? It's hard to believe that just 12 months ago this month, she was so little and helpless. She wasn't walking, wasn't talking that much, and she still needed Mama to do everything for her. In just one short year, she's walking, talking (sometimes more than I'd like), and she is Miss Independent. In fact, her favorite phrases as of late are, "I do it," "I hold it just a minute," and "I touch it it Mommy!" She has gotten so big, so FAST. It makes me sad in a way, because I don't have a baby anymore. I have a toddler, and for the most part, minus a few temper tantrums and battles of the will, am loving every minute of it. We have plans confirmed for her party, so I'll be posting those pictures very soon. Stay tuned... Meanwhile, here are a few pictures from her first birthday for you to reflect on.

Wow, I'm exhausted this morning. Last night was Trick or Treating in Mt. Sterling. We started the evening by getting Karsynn all dressed up in her Mickey Mouse costume. She looked so cute! She even let me color her nose and add some whiskers. We visited the houses of many friends, including Miss Becky, Karsynn's past babysitter, and then we hit Grandma and G-Pa's and Mamaw and Papaw's. She had a blast, that is until she wore herself out and fell asleep. See the cute Halloween crafts Karsynn has made at daycare. We've started a Wall of Fame on the pantry door in the kitchen. She brings something new she has made home everyday, and we add it to the wall. She loves looking at her masterpieces!!! She loves playing with all her new friends at daycare. She's learning so much. It's great!

Karsynn has a big 2 year old birthday coming up on November 12th. We have lots of fun things planned this year. We've invited lots of friends and family to celebrate Karsynn's life with us. I can't wait to see her face. This year, she will actually be excited about everything and everyone around her. When you ask her how old she is, she say, "TWO!" and smiles that big, beautiful smile that melts my heart. Our newest big event is that she used her potty chair for the first time this past week. YEAH!!! We danced, clapped and made a huge deal over it. She was so proud of herself. My girl is growing up so fast. I can't believe she's going to be 2! Where does the time go. Time just seems to fly by...so I don't want to miss out on a thing! I celebrate every single milestone in her life.

Well, the food vendors have pulled out, the shopping has ceased, the dust has cleared and we survived another Court Day Weekend!!! Karsynn had an absolute blast this year, since she was truly old enough to take it all in. She enjoyed candy apples, corn dogs and lots of shopping. We are all exhausted, but it was worth every single moment spending time together. Our girl is getting so big and is talking more and more each day. Her newest word...Tort Day (Court Day), of course. Look what a difference a year makes. One photo is of Karsynn 1st UK game ever. The other is one year later, at her 1st UK game of the season. Mama's girl is growing up!

We ventured out into the cold to watch the CATS last night. The stadium was full. The company was great! But, it was COLD!! The CATS didn't appear to have much ummph about them during the 1st three quarters, so I encouraged Troy and Ray to leave with 10 min. left to go. BIG MISTAKE! The Cats were down 20 to 7 at that point, so I didn't think we'd miss much. As we were driving home, the CATS rallied back to win 21-20. OMG!!! I thought I was a dead woman. The men were not happy with me and all my whining about being cold. Anyways, I am a die hard CATS fan, but my judgement was impaired by the cold last night. Sorry CATS! Never under estimate the heart of a champion, right?

Court Day Weekend...YEAH!

It's that time of year again...Court Days in Mt. Sterling. We have a funfilled weekend planned, which started last night with a party at the new BBQ restaurant with friends. Karsynn had such a good time playing with Laura, Kara, Gabe, Bryson and Braylon, her future prom date...:) As for the rest of the weekend, we have lots of things planned:

1. Shopping...shopping...shopping downtown. We're hoping to find some really cool bows for Karsynn's hair, not that she needs anymore. Mommy just spent $20 on bows at the Apple Festival a couple weeks ago. (To Karsynn's China Sister, CJ, Aunt Sammi is going to look for some bows for you and Ali, too!)

2. C-A-T-S...CATS! CATS! CATS! UK Football tomorrow!!!!

3. We have friends coming in on Saturday to shop with us some more. We haven't seen them in a long time, so we're really looking forward to that visit.

4. Sleeping In and Snuggling...Mommy is off Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so NO DAYCARE!!! Yeah!!!!

Allergy Update on Karsynn

We had our visit with Dr. Overbeck yesterday, and Karsynn did wonderful with the allergy testing. However, we found out that she is severly allergic to her best friend, Gigi Dog, AKA Bentley. The allergist suggested we find a new home for him, but we're not sure what we'll do just yet. Her reaction to him is not severe at this time, so I guess we'll have to see. She is also allergic to dust, molds, and some seasonal weeds and trees, which comes with living in Kentucky. The thing I struggle with, is that she can't live in a bubble for her whole life. There are some things you simply can't do anything about. I guess we'll just have to weigh our options and decide then. As for now, she's taking Flovent and a nasal spray, so we'll see how those work for her. For all of those who have said prayers and have asked daily about her, this post if for you. Thank you for caring so much about our daughter! It means the world to us to be in your thoughts and prayers. It's great to have such wonderful, caring friends. Thank you!

I stumbled across this poem today, and I feel it is appropriate for me to share right now. We are so blessed to have the children that God has given us. He gives us the child that is just perfect for us. This was written long before we were even born. It is destiny. We can't change that. We all need to stop and take a moment to read the words and really internalize them. Don't sweat the small stuff in life. It's simply too short! Enjoy every single waking moment you are blessed to spend with your children. I get so busy sometimes, as we all do, and I sometimes forget to "stop and smell the roses." I've really been working on this over the last little while. I want to savor every single moment that I have with Karsynn, because she's growing so very fast. One of these days, I will surely miss the little messes she makes and will realize that it's not that big of a deal. She's a kid. That's what kids do. That's what they're supposed to do. That's how they learn. A house with a toddler is meant to be messy and disorganized and turned upside down. It's how you know they are enjoying being a kid. Treasure those moments, don't grumble about them. A friend of mine lost her 3 month old grandaughter this week. She died peacefully in her mother's arms. I know that mother wishes for just one more minute with her child. Just one more dirty diaper to change, just one more load of dirty laundry of hers to do, just one more throw-up to clean up. I bet she wouldn't complain at all. Life can change in an instant. I don't ever want to look back and say, what if... or I wish that I had...!!! NO WAY!

Update on Karsynn...

Well, it's been 6 days since we took Karsynn off all the drinks that contain red dye. Since then, she has shown so much improvement. She is sleeping so much better, her funny, loving personality has returned, and she is responding to discipline so much better. Thank you so much for all your prayers!!!! As I said before, she goes to the Allergist on Tuesday, so we'll know more then. I know that God will take care of things. He always does. No matter how difficult times may seem, no matter how much disappointment you are faced with in your life, no matter how uncertain your life may seem, God takes care of it all. I, especially, am faced with some very emotional, difficult things in my life right now, but I know that this too shall pass.

Upcoming Events for Karsynn:
1. A visit to Two Sisters Pumpkin Patch with Bryson, Braylon, and Shelby. (We had to postpone today because of rain and Braylon's cold!)
2. She's going to a UK game on Saturday with her friend Sydney and her family. This should be a funfilled day of tailgating and playing. Go CATS!
3. Karsynn's 2nd birthday is just around the corner. We're planning a much smaller, more simple party this year with just her closest friends. I can't wait to see her face!
4. We've scheduled to have her 2 year old pictures taken in her beautiful silk China dress again this year. I can't wait to compare the then and now pics. I'm attaching a few pictures from this time last year. Look at what a difference a year makes. WOW!

Allergist Appointment and Changing Some Things

Well, I finally made an appointment with the allergist for Karsynn. She goes Oct. 14th. She's seeing a Pediatric Allergist in Lexington who is supposed to be just wonderful. In the meantime, we've been changing some things up to see if we can see any improvements in Karsynn. We mentioned the "fits" that Karsynn has been throwing to Troy's aunt, who happens to be an RN. She said that Troy's cousin did the same thing when he was little and come to find out, he was allergic to red dye in drinks and foods. When thinking about it, Karsynn drinks and eats a lot of foods, especially juices, with red dye in them. So. we've totally cut those out. For the last two days, all she has been drinking is milk and flavored water. We've seen a bit of a change. She seems more calm and she really hasn't had a huge meltdown since we stopped the juices. So, just a fluke? Not sure, but we're not giving her any more until we see the allergist. Please pray that God intervenes for Karsynn. She is tired. We are tired. We're all running on pure adrenaline. I'm posting some updated pics of the girl. She is getting so big and so smart. I mean, sometimes she even shocks me at how smart she is.

Doctors love my family!!!

Well, we're keeping lots of doctors in business these days. Between Karsynn and myself, we've had 3 doctor's visit in 2 days. Karsynn had a 6 mo. follow-up with her ENT who put her tubes in back in April. He says her ears look great, so no worries there. Thank you God! We also decided it was time to switch Karsynn's regular doctor. The one she has been seeing does what he can for her, but we felt she needed to be seen by a regular Pediatrician, since she's staying so sick. Well, that was a good idea. She saw Dr. Taylor, who wants to send her to an Allergist. She really thinks Karsynn's problems are allergy related. So, we'll call Monday for yet another appointment. As for myself, I've had to see the orthopedic doctor because I thought I had done something to my hip. Come to find out, after some tests, it's not my hip, it's my back. Well, at least that's what they think. I have an MRI done this Thursday to find out for sure, but he x-rays showed nothing wrong with my hip. Anyway, "these are the days of our lives." Say a prayer that we all get well soon.

We just returned home from a long day of tailgating at the UK Football game with friends. GO CATS!!! They beat WKU tonight, so we're off to a great start this season. Now comes the real test. We start SEC play now, so we'll see how that goes. We love this time of year!!! Troy and I are HUGE UK fans! Any sport, any time!!!! I'll try to post some updated pics of Karsynn soon. She's getting so big!

Well, it's official, CJ, Karsynn's "China Sister," is officially a big sister herself. John, Nila and CJ welcomed Baby Alison today. She weighed 8 lbs. even and has a bit of blonde curly hair. We're Feeling Better...FINALLY!

Karsynn is feeling much better, thank God! She is finally back to her rowdy little self. Thank you for all the prayers!!! We really appreciate them. Not much to report on, other than improved health. Karsynn is talking up a storm nowadays. You never know what she's going to say next. I think she's showing us signs of being ready to potty train. She's beginning to go and get a diaper and wants to be changed. I think we'll try over Christmas Break to tackle that one. We have new friends that are currently in China adopting their daughter, Alyzabeth An. She is from Karsynn's same orphanage in Nanchuan. She just turn 2, so she's having a difficult time adjusting to her new life. Please pray that things will continue to improve for all of them. They are getting better each day, so I know things will be just fine. If you'd like to follow their journey, then you can find their link under My Favorites on my website. Our baby isn't a baby anymore. She's getting so big and so independent! In just a few short days, she'll be 22 months old. YIKES!! Where does time go? She's going through some very tough times right now, especially at night. She isn't sleeping through the night, and I fear, may actually be having Night Terrors. She wakes up thrashing and screaming and nothing soothes her, not even Mama, whom she prefers at night. Please pray that whatever is going on subsides soon. Please pray that God gives her peace of mind and heart. I know she's worn out and so are Daddy and I. We're all exhausted! I've contacted a pediatrician in Lexington, so hopefully she can shed some light on what's going on. I, know, however, that God can take care of this minor bump in the road.

Karsynn is 21 months old, and this past weekend she started counting to 10 on her own and she can spell her entire first name. It has been a ritual at the diaper changing station to stand up when we're done and touch each letter of her name on the wall and say it. I wasn't sure how much she was taking in, but obviously more than I realized. I'd love to say it's all the hard work Troy and I put in working with her, but I'm afraid I have to admit that it's probably genetic...and not our genetics! Ha! Ha! She is the most amazing little creature in the whole world. I'm constantly amazed with her. She has now graduated to a "big girl bed," that rests right up against our bed. We went to Wal-mart in search of bedding and she just had to have the Elmo set. We let her help us make up her bed, and she is resting quite well in it. Since our hearts are being tugged toward China again for a little sister for her, we figured we needed to try to get her out of our bed for good. I must admit that I do miss snuggling with the little snuggle bug, though. I love to hold her close and listen to her breathe. It's one of my favorite things to do. God has been so good to us. We are the luckiest people in the world.

Daycare and Camden Park

Yesterday, we went with Aunt Tonya, Whitney and Dylan to Camden Park in Huntington, WV. This amusement park is over 100 years old. Troy and I both use to visit this park with our families and church youth groups when we were young. Boy did it bring back a lot of great memories. I was so happy to share this wonderful family experience with Karsynn and my niece and nephew. Karsynn rode everything, including the Big Dipper, which is a wooden roller coaster. She wasn't scared of any of the rides. She really had a blast.

Karsynn loves her new Dora backpack and her new pink carseat that Daddy bought her for his car.

I am so proud of my brave girl. She has adapted quite well to daycare. She still has moments where she's uncertain if she really wants to go, but she's fine once she gets there. We've only had one day of drama since she started. She came home one day with two bite marks on her arm. This is to be expected occasionally, but Mama won't stand for it too often. She's now to the point where she'll stand and wave to Daddy in the window as he leaves her at daycare, which is a far cry from her crying, "Dada, Dada!" She still cries when I pick her up in the afternoon, but it's such a strange cry. It's almost a meltdown cry after not seeing me all day. When we get in the car, she holds her hands in the air and says, "Yeah, Mama!" as if I'm the super hero of the day for coming to pick her up. It's so cute. Troy is quite satisfied in his new job. He just loves teaching P.E. to the little ones. He's such a goober! He has more fun than they do. That's all for now. I PROMISE to post pictures soon!

We survived Back to School!

Well, summer is finally OVER, or at least summer break is anyway. UGGHHHH!!! Lots of changes have taken place in our lives as of lately, so we're all pretty stressed out.

1. Troy and I are back to work
2. Karsynn is in daycare full time and is doing fine
3. Troy switched jobs and is now an elementary PE teacher
4. We had to go to his old school and clean out 5 years worth of health junk
5. Our family drama seems to be never ending
6. Troy's mom has had a house full of company in from FL, Missouri, Indiana and Ohio
7. Karsynn has been sick and can't seem to get rid of it

Overall, I have to say things with daycare have gone more smoothly than I anticipated and for that I'm thankful. Now, if we can get a routine going again at home, then I think we'll all survive. I'll try to post pictures soon...when I find a spare minute.

Well, today was Karsynn's first official time alone at daycare and it went GREAT! They said she was so good. She played, ate her lunch, and even went down for her noon nap, after a short walk around the building with one of her caregivers and getting to choose where to put her nap mat, of course. She is quite the little DIVA. She's figuring out that her "cuteness" can get her almost anything...OH NO!!! I keep reminding them that yes she's cute, but she needs to be disciplined. They assure me that they will, if needed????? We're getting ready for an exciting introduction today. Karsynn will meet two of her cousins, a new aunt and her great-grandmother (Troy's mom's mom) later today. They are so anxious to meet her, so I hope she's good. I'll keep you posted on the daycare chronicles. Keep praying!!!!!

Life seems to have gotten very busy...

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Life has been so crazy that I can't even begin to explain. I have a sick girl on my hands again. She has a terrible sinus infection, which she has so kindly passed on to mommy, so we visited Dr. Thornberry today. She's on meds now, so she should feel better soon. She's doing great attending daycare. She really likes playing with the "kids," as she so sweetly refers to them. Daddy and mommy are both swamped with Professional Development meetings, Open House, getting rooms ready, etc., so I think she knows changes are coming soon...and she doesn't like it one bit.
